CONOMELUS ANCEPS
Fig 1

DESCRIPTION:  Up to 4mm in length. A delightful little small-winged (brachypterous) planthopper this with a really quirky look and several distinguishing features. Macropterous  forms are occasionally seen and have a dark median bar on the forewings. BEHAVIOUR: Adults stick to areas with Rushes and are hardly seen without the use of a sweep net. DISTRIBUTION: Well spread throughout England, Wales and Scotland. HABITAT: Found wherever rushes grow in open meadows, damp woodland and other damp habitats. PERIOD: Best seen from June to November.
